Paver patios, walkways and driveways in Palos Verdes and the South Bay

Interlocking pavers, brick, stone and flagstone for patios, walkways, steps and driveways in Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, Torrance and San Pedro, built by Del Mar Landscaping, a family company founded in 1993 (license #904584). We also do the planting, turf and concrete around the pavers, so one crew handles the whole yard.

Paver and patio rules by city

Each city sets its own rules. Checked against city codes and official sources in October 2026. Rules change, so we confirm the details for your lot on the free estimate.

Palos Verdes Estates. Hardscape has its own Art Jury application at the Palos Verdes Homes Association, and buildings plus paving, including driveways and walkways, can cover no more than 65% of the lot.

Rolling Hills Estates. Patios count at 75% of their area toward lot coverage and grass-paver products at 50%, so permeable choices leave more room for the rest of the yard. Decks 30 inches or higher need a building permit.

Rancho Palos Verdes. One patio under 500 square feet is left out of lot coverage, as are paved strips under 5 feet wide.

San Pedro (City of Los Angeles). Pavers, decomposed granite or raised beds in the parkway need a Bureau of Engineering A-Permit plus a Revocable Permit; a standard concrete house walk doesn't need the Revocable Permit.

Torrance. Stone or concrete that cuts off water and air to a parkway tree's roots needs City approval, so we plan paving around street trees with that in mind.

Long Beach. Private walkways, patios and driveways up to 30 inches above the ground need no building permit, but patio covers and gazebos do. In the parkway, pavers must be set on sand and, with other non-living materials, cover less than half of it.

Rebate gardens. If you're replacing a lawn for a SoCal Water$mart or Torrance rebate, only permeable hardscape is allowed in the converted area.

Can you help us pick the paver style and color?

Yes. We walk the property with you and go over paver styles, colors and the layout before anything is built.
